The Dandy Dams

Our world is full of beautiful places. It is a mixer of natural and made-made tourist spots. But many of these places often remain undiscovered, away from human activities though it has huge potential for tourism activities. In this article we will go through some dams which are undiscovered and are untouched by humans.


Manchanabelle Dam


An unspoilt dam sits just 10 km away from Dodda Alada Mara. A road trip to the destination takes less than two hours from M.G Road. This dam runs across the river Arkavathy. It provides water to the Magadi town.

If a person is looking for an escape from hustle and bustle of the city and likes to spend some time in a peaceful environment this place is the best choice. The dam backwaters can also be accessed via Dabbaguli village or via Magadi road where few adventure resort are located.


The dam is near Ramanagar and the place is beautiful, but people are not allowed to see the dam as its restricted area. One can enjoy the view on the way (on road). The view from the top of the hill is best enjoyed during sunrise and sunset. Visitors are often seen enjoying a barbecue on the hill.

It is a trekking location. It is also known for sight-seeing. People can take up one day trip to this place. It also serves as a good picnic spot. This place offers an incredible scenic beauty surrounded by lush green trees in small hills that makes the place look even more mesmerizing. This place is also inhabited by a large number of enchanting birds, which makes it a good place for bird-viewing. This place is also ideal for camping’s, mountain climbing and rappelling. The Dodda Alada Mara and Savanadurga are other tourist attractions in the circuit.




One can reach the place in 1 hour 20 minutes from majestic. Bus services are available from majestic. Direct buses available from K.R Market (route nos. 227M, 227VA, 227VC, 242VA, 242W).


Danaganahalli Dam


This reservoir that looks like a natural lake is about 90 km away from the main city. This dam is in Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka. It is located around 25 km from Chikkaballapura city. Dandiganahalli dam is just 45 km away from Nandi hills.




The place has a beautiful view of the water and valleys around it, which makes it a beautiful and a perfect place for picnic and camping’s. One can also enjoy in the water in this reservoir. Trekking and Mountain climbing are some of the activities that tourist can enjoy there.

There is a long bridge that runs right into the water and one can reach its edge to take some spectacular pictures. The place is also great for spotting colourful birds.

There are no shops around the dam, hence it is suggested to carry your food, water and other stuffs but the place has a lot of potential for developing other water-based activities and sports like boating, fishing, river crossing, bungee jumping, etc. The surrounding areas can also be developed into parks for kids.

It is better to take your private vehicles while planning to visit the dam as transportation system is not so prominent there. One can also book a cab from Ola or Uber to reach the destination.
